The annual Katie Lockrem Memorial Golf Tournament drew another excellent response for its third year at Gruis Recreation Area. This year’s tournament, held August 3, brought in around $50,000 before expenses are paid. The funds include registration fees from the 165 golfers who took part in the tournament, along with proceeds from live and silent auctions featuring items donated for the cause.
A special beneficiary this year is Jim Miller of Lakota, who is battling pancreatic cancer. Organizers presented a check to Jim and his wife, Gert, on Monday, Sept. 23 at The Barn.
