Buffalo Center businesses helped to “paint the town purple” on Tuesday, Sept. 3 in honor of Elise Hinders. Elise, who grew up in Buffalo Center, passed away unexpectedly on August 25 at the age of 20. Elise had epilepsy, an incurable disorder that causes seizures. Purple is the color used to raise awareness for epilepsy, and it also happened to be Elise’s favorite color. She and her family moved to Newell four years ago, but she was laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center last Tuesday, when her family was greeted by a show of support from the community.
