Public Health scheduling COVID-19 shots

Winnebago County Public Health is now taking names for all adults ages 18 and up interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccination. People may call 641-585-4763 to be added to the waiting list for an appointment, which will be scheduled as more vaccine becomes available.

Julie Sorenson, Administrator at Winnebago County Public Health, says the county is nearly done vaccinating all residents in the high priority groups who want the shots, including people ages 65 and up. Winnebago County has been receiving 200 doses per week of the Moderna vaccine. The state requires counties to use at least 80% of the doses they receive each week, and Sorenson says they’ve had no trouble finding people who want the vaccine.

Winnebago County Public Health is administering shots at their office in Forest City, and they also held their first COVID-19 vaccination clinic on March 24 at the Civic Auditorium in Forest City. Sorenson says they may hold additional clinics if staff is available.

Public Health continues to work with Miller Pharmacy, HyVee Pharmacy, and MercyOne Forest City Clinic to administer vaccines, but anyone may call Winnebago County Public Health directly to schedule an appointment.
