School lays out winter sports guidelines
Attendance will be limited during winter sports activities at North Iowa Community Schools, as the State of Iowa has new guidelines limiting crowds to two spectators per athlete.
The school is distributed two lanyard passes to each student athletes that they can share with family and friends who wish to attend the games. These passes will be used throughout the Top of Iowa Conference, with different colors of passes for middle school, JV and varsity sports. Lanyards should be worn for the entire event.
All spectators will be required to wear face coverings at winter games, and three rows of the bleachers will be left vacant behind each team.
Admission for both adults and students this winter will be $5. North Iowa sports passes will be honored, but people with a sports pass will also need a lanyard pass to attend games. Activities Director Meggon Jacobs says some schools in the conference will be clearing out their gymnasium after each game, and spectators with a pass for JV events will be asked to leave before the varsity games. She said North Iowa is still working out how they will proceed with that. The school plans to share an update on winter COVID guidelines this week.
Jacobs says concession stands will be limited at most locations this season, and North Iowa will not have concessions during middle school games.
