Local positivity rate ticks up for COVID-19
Testing results show a bump in local COVID-19 activity over the past week, following several weeks of declines.
In Winnebago County, the rate of positive tests was 9%, compared to 2% the prior week, as 14 tests showed positive results. A total of 1,416 positive tests have been recorded in the county, with 1,243 individuals having recovered from the illness.
The positivity rate was also up in Kossuth County, with 7% of tests coming back positive between March 9-15. That accounts for 26 positive tests and is an increase from the previous week’s positivity rate of 2%. Kossuth County has recorded 2,125 total positive COVID-19 tests, with 1,875 people listed as recovered.
Kossuth County also reported two more deaths over the past week linked to COVID-19, for a total of 57. The number of deaths in Winnebago County remains at 31.
The number of people vaccinated against the illness continues to rise, as a third type of vaccine is now being administered. In Winnebago County, 1,128 people have received their first shot of a two-dose vaccine, and 1,119 have received their second dose. An additional 18 individuals have received the new single-dose Janssen vaccine. In Kossuth County, 1,697 individuals have received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine, with 2,023 receiving their second dose. Another 37 individuals have received a single-dose vaccine.
