Annual Missions Conference begins Saturday at Community Chapel

The Annual Missions Conference at Community Chapel in Lakota will feature missionaries, from left: Tony Ciro, Reuben and Lydia Schuring, and Alex Newmaster.

Pastor Kent Hillesland and the congregation of Community Chapel in Lakota invite everyone to their Annual Missions Conference, March 26-30. This year the theme is “Labor of Love, Work of Faith,” based on the Scripture text of 1 Thessalonians 1:3, “Constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father.”

The missionaries for the conference are:

Tony Ciro

Tony Ciro is the Regional Director for Operation Christmas Child; a Samaritan’s Purse project. In his role, Tony leads a staff that recruits, selects, equips and leads volunteers that are called to serve in Operation Christmas Child. During the conference, Community Chapel also hopes to hear from Tony about Samaritan Purse’s relief operation in the Ukraine.

Reuben and Lydia Schuring

Reuben and Lydia Schuring have been working in Brazil, amongst the Ka’apor people since 1989. They have four girls and six grandchildren who are living Stateside. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, during 2020, they had to move out of the village and work from town. Reuben continued translating discipleship material for the Ka’apor natives and spent some time with a Brazilian pastor in town. Lydia continued to teach a group of Brazilian ladies off the reservation each Sunday.

In 2021, Reuben and Lydia were able to return to the village and continue teaching the church about their walk. They are now on home assignment and will be in the USA until May 15.

Alex Newmaster

Alex Newmaster has been serving on staff with The Navigators for the last ten years. He currently serves in two roles: The Campus Director of Northern Iowa and Associate Regional Leader of Iowa and Nebraska. His passion is to know Christ, make Him known and help others do the same.

Additionally, the conference will feature a stateside missionary that works with an American Indian Tribe in Arizona.
